Many of the Halifax Plantation Rules and Regulations sometimes get forgotten as you busily go about your everyday activities. We noticed a problem, or a complaint has been received, regarding the matter listed below and asked that you look at it and make corrections where necessary.
Political Signs and Soliciting in the community
When election years come around, there is always the question regarding the HOA policy for political signs and flags. The HOA administration continues to have the opinion that allowing political signs is a negative to the community in several ways. First, there is the visual “clutter” that results. Second, residents do not like limitations as to number of signs if they desire to put signs for all the various candidates who they support. Thirdly, sometimes the display of political preferences interferes with the sense of unity which comes with living in a residential community such as ours. Therefore, the HOA will continue the policy of NOT allowing political signs.
Related to this, the HOA adopted a policy and posted signs regarding “No Solicitation”. This applies also to the residents within the community. During the primary elections, some residents indicated to us their concern about unsolicited political flyers appearing at their front door. Just as for other organizations or companies that distribute flyers, this is considered solicitation and is not permitted. Of course, neighbor to neighbor discussions, group meetings or delivery of political material specifically requested by a resident is not restricted. Please report any violation of this policy to the HOA office.
The Design Review Committee (DRC) would always prefer to discuss issues in person. Please bear in mind that time and work volume may make an immediate response to inquiries difficult. However, please call the office at (386) 275-1087 if you would like to review the matter above with a member of the DRC.
