Reminder – No Political Signs
RE: Friendly Reminder
From: Design Review Committee
DATE: AUGUST 12, 2024
Many of the Halifax Plantation Rules and Regulations sometimes get forgotten as you busily go about your everyday activities. We noticed a problem, or a complaint has been received, regarding the matter listed below and asked that you look at it and make corrections where necessary.
Political Signs and Soliciting in the community
When election years come around, there is always the question regarding the HOA policy for political signs and flags. The HOA administration continues to have the opinion that allowing political signs is a negative to the community in several ways. First, there is the visual “clutter” that results. Second, residents do not like limitations as to number of signs if they desire to put signs for all the various candidates who they support. Thirdly, sometimes the display of political preferences interferes with the sense of unity which comes with living in a residential community such as ours. Therefore, the HOA will continue the policy of NOT allowing political signs.
Related to this, the HOA adopted a policy and posted signs regarding “No Solicitation”. This applies also to the residents within the community. During the primary elections, some residents indicated to us their concern about unsolicited political flyers appearing at their front door. Just as for other organizations or companies that distribute flyers, this is considered solicitation and is not permitted. Of course, neighbor to neighbor discussions, group meetings or delivery of political material specifically requested by a resident is not restricted. Please report any violation of this policy to the HOA office.
The Design Review Committee (DRC) would always prefer to discuss issues in person. Please bear in mind that time and work volume may make an immediate response to inquiries difficult. However, please call the office at (386) 275-1087 if you would like to review the matter above with a member of the DRC.
Message from the Board
A message from your Board of Directors:
We still need volunteers to serve on the Design Review Committee, Election Committee, Enforcement Committee, the newly formed Landscape Committee and a person to head up the Neighbor Watch. Anyone that is interested in one of these committees or have questions about them please email Pete Hartman vicepresident@HalifaxPlantationphase2hoa.com
Have you sent in your HOA form to Vote Electronically? The HOA staff is working hard to get everything set up for the Owners Annual Meeting this coming November. If you need a form or want to check to see if you have signedup please send an email to either hphoa2@gmail.com (Donna) or hphoa3@gmail.com (Terri) or you can stop into the HOA office.

Design Review Committee (DRC)
The Design Review Committee (DRC) meets 2 times per month. Currently it is the 2nd and 4th Thursday at 8:30 am. If you need a DRC acted on between meetings there is a $50 fee and it could take up to 4 days to get the Design Review Committee together.
A DRC form needs to be completed and submitted for any work to the outside of your house or property. If you live in a Sub HOA it needs to be signed off by the subhoa before the Master DRC will take action on it. Please make sure you submit all the paperwork that might be required.
